Representatives from Hudson Valley Community College were invited to speak to community residents about educational opportunities and academic programs at an annual neighbor barbecue on Sunday, July 24.
The 518 Unity Festival, held at Powers Park in Lansingburgh, featured live music, a flea market, and delicious home-cooked food for those who attended.
Festival coordinators used the opportunity to discuss ways to decrease the violence and protect loved ones and the community. They invited HVCC because the college represents the community and there’s an appreciation of the quality of our programs, the affordability of our tuition, the marketability of degrees offered and the transferability of credits to four year colleges, according to Louis Coplin, vice president for Student Affairs. “This is another way to meet people where they are and strengthen partnerships through our community outreach and recruiting projects.”
